Tyres — New & Used

First-Class Service for Your Vehicle, Without the First-Class Price Tag

New & Used Tyres in Ōtāhuhu — From $60 Fitted

Tyres are the only part of your car that touches the road, and they are the single most common reason vehicles fail a Warrant of Fitness. At H&H Auto Traders we stock both new and quality-checked used tyres, fitted at our Ōtāhuhu workshop. Used tyres start at $60 including fitting.

If you need one tyre to get through a WoF or a full set before winter, we can sort it.

New Tyres vs Used Tyres

Which Should You Choose?

Used tyres — from $60 fitted

The sensible option when you need a legal, safe tyre without a large outlay: an older vehicle, a car you plan to sell, or a single replacement after a puncture. Every used tyre we sell is checked for tread depth, sidewall damage, uneven wear and age before it goes on your car. We will not fit a tyre we would not run ourselves.

New tyres — quoted by size and brand

Worth it when you are keeping the vehicle, doing serious kilometres, or replacing a full set. New tyres give you full tread life, a manufacturer warranty and better wet-weather performance — which matters on an Auckland winter road.

Not sure? Tell us your vehicle, your annual kilometres and your budget, and we will give you a straight recommendation rather than pushing the more expensive option.

What We Do

  • New tyre supply and fitting
  • Quality-checked used tyre supply and fitting from $60
  • Tyre fitting and balancing
  • Puncture repairs where the damage is repairable
  • Tread depth and wear pattern inspection
  • Wheel alignment [CONFIRM — listed in the design footer]
  • Advice on uneven wear, which usually points to a suspension or alignment fault rather than the tyre

What the Law Requires

The legal minimum tread depth in New Zealand is 1.5mm across the tread. That is the legal minimum, not a safe target — wet braking distances increase significantly well before tread reaches that point. Most drivers should be thinking about replacement at around 3mm.

Other things that fail a WoF: cuts or bulges in the sidewall, exposed cords, uneven wear across the tread, and mismatched tyre types on the same axle. If you are unsure, drive in and we will look at them for free.

When to Replace

  • Tread approaching or below 1.5mm
  • Cracking in the sidewall, common on older tyres that have sat unused
  • Bulges, blisters or visible cords
  • Wear heavier on one edge than the other — usually an alignment or suspension issue
  • Vibration at speed that persists after balancing
  • Repeated slow punctures
  • The tyre is more than about ten years old regardless of tread

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are used tyres?

Used tyres start from $60 including fitting at our Ōtāhuhu workshop. The final price depends on size and availability.

A properly checked used tyre with adequate tread and no structural damage is safe and legal. A cheap tyre with hidden sidewall damage is not. That is why we inspect every one before fitting.

Call 027 786 3135 with the size from your sidewall — it looks like 195/65R15. We will tell you what we have.

Yes. Where possible we recommend replacing in pairs across an axle so grip is even, but a single replacement is often all that is needed.

Usually while you wait, depending on how busy the workshop is. Call ahead and we will tell you.

Often yes, if the damage is in the repairable central tread area and the tyre is otherwise sound. Sidewall damage is not repairable.
