Car Stereo Supply & Installation in Ōtāhuhu

A factory stereo from 2008 has no Bluetooth, no phone integration and no reversing camera input. Upgrading is one of the cheapest improvements you can make to a car you actually spend time in. H&H Auto Traders stocks second-hand head units and carries out professional installation at our Ōtāhuhu workshop.

We do the wiring properly, with the correct harness for the vehicle, so nothing is cut that should not be and nothing rattles loose in six months.

Why Not Just DIY It

A head unit is not simply four wires. Modern vehicles run canbus systems, and a unit wired in without the correct interface can cause warning lights, drain the battery overnight, or knock out functions that have nothing to do with the stereo.

Done properly, an installation uses a vehicle-specific harness so the factory loom is never cut, keeps the vehicle’s other systems intact, secures the unit so it does not vibrate, and is tested before you drive away. Done badly, it becomes an intermittent electrical fault that is far more expensive to trace than the original fitting would have cost.

Choosing a Head Unit

What to Look For

Bluetooth

hands-free calling is a legal necessity, not a luxury

Screen size and fit

We pull all stored and pending codes from every module, not just the engine.

Phone integration

consider whether you want Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

Reversing camera input

worth having even if you fit the camera later

Steering wheel control support

if your vehicle has them, you want to keep them

Tell us your vehicle and what you want it to do, and we will tell you what we have in stock that fits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell stereos or only fit them?

Both. We carry second-hand head units and we are happy to install a unit you have bought elsewhere.

A straightforward head unit installation is usually a couple of hours. Speakers, cameras and more involved work take longer.

Often yes, with the correct interface. It depends on the vehicle and the unit — ask us and we will confirm.

Sometimes the fault is wiring, a speaker or a fuse rather than the unit. We will check before recommending a replacement.

Not when it is wired correctly. A parasitic drain after an installation almost always points to incorrect wiring.
